… I’m starting to think I need to take up freelance pentesting
Is this before or after they hand that job off to AI? You know they’re gonna and then just complain when an actual expert finds 3000 holes per line of AI gen code.
Heard about this earlier. The situation sucks, but at least this is better than nothing.
The cost of all stuffed animals at a thrift shop.
Then I could easily work on increasing the amount of rescues I will have. It’s currently 1.5 rescue to 4 others ( purchased at a store, gift shop, gift, etcetera ).
My goal to someday have more rescues than store bought would be a little easier.
Oh yeah, and kids would have an easier time accessing them because $1 stuffed animals are a lot easier to convince a parent to buy than a $5.99 stuffed animal. But I don’t like kids, so they were an afterthought!
I’ve been seeing the same thing with New York on yt. Single channel posting straight up “Immigrants Looting New York”, “New York Destroyed By Gangs” type of bullshit using what looks exactly like AI imagery for the thumbnails.
Hell, I don’t even need to see the video title or channel responsible to know it has to be bullshit if they’re willing to use AI generated images in the thumbnail.
With Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong I used to hear “ain’t nobody gonna come when your sound is gone” instead of “when you sound your gong”.
As someone who has started rewriting an old Summer Camp Island fanfiction I started around 2019 and never got very far with, I’m gonna have to say concentration and not getting writers block as the combo that would be the holy grail IMO. I’m sure a lot of writers in general could probably agree with that.
I definitely wanna get back into fanfic writing to a degree, but concentration and writers block have been my enemy.
Specifically for older titles, I’d definitely say a game like, if anyone could find the original first version to ever be released of the game and not one of the many rip-offs/clones, Tetris. It’s probably, as far as I’m aware, the most copied/cloned/ripped-off game in existence.
As for newer titles ( 2000 onwards ), I can’t think of any that I think should 100% be in museum. Most of the titles I can think of aren’t good enough, in my opinion, to go into a museum. I’m not an expert on judging what should go into a museum, but I couldn’t think of a single title that would fit in any exhibit.
Edit:
Tetris is already in the video game hall of fame. Should have figured. Definitely deserves its place there. Even so, someone with a floppy of the original or clone of the floppy or digital backup should definitely see if there are any museums willing to take a copy because the original is something I think would be a shame to completely lose.
To see all Oaken Tower players have their computer mice overheat when playing that game. To the point where an hour of playing it would make their mice unusable.
Totally genie like behavior. I love it.
Well, since music is out of the question, it’s always possible to do things like finding old games you like online through places like MyAbandonware and attempting to burn them to a CD/DVD and seeing if they work. Not as convenient as just using something like DOSBox, but definitely rewarding in my opinion.
Maybe not on the main channels I tend to watch on yt, but there’s one who I have pretty much completely stopped watching ( GrayStillPlays ) because I just wasn’t as interested anymore. I come back one day recently to check out a Universe Sandbox video he just posted that day and the second he started asking I think it was chatgpt something about a little laser pointer, IIRC, I immediately noped out of the video.
I ain’t supporting him if he’s just gonna use an “AI” LLM to get the info he wants. I could at least, before LLMs became the big bubble they are, look past him just casually asking g••gle using the shitty voice assistant thing because it’s whatever, but can’t for “AI” LLMs.
Regardless of whether or not it’s truly happening, can you say “Dystopia”?
Regardless of what country does it, I will absolutely call every country that replaces all humans with robo workers for mundane jobs like that dystopian.

Gotta assume that if any Arch users actually fell for that one, that they either let their kids use their device or they’re generally not smart ( which absolutely goes against my stereotypical view of an arch user ).
Well, for Lemmy, I jumped because of the r•dd•t 3rd party API fiasco. Haven’t looked back since.
As for the Fediverse in general, I never really used mainstream social media ( yt not included that list in my opinion) besides r•dd•t. So, I figured I’d try Mastodon and it’s pretty alright.
Also, don’t really know much about Matrix, so I don’t use it.
Faygo. Specifically either red pop or cotton candy. There used to be a single gas station at basically the far edge of town that sold it and nobody else had any Faygo whatsoever. Then at one point, a little convenience store right across from my favorite movie theater started carrying it when a new store took over. It’s real nice on the rare occasion I have it.
Perfect use for that old “This Person Doesn’t Exist” website.
I haven’t heard that one, or if I have it’s been long enough that I don’t remember it.
Maybe a +3 or 3.5 max. After having a little bit of experience with artificial “intelligence”, I have been doing everything in my power to block it out of my life.
People can call me a Luddite for this, but my response to those people is that I can at least think and form an opinion without needing an AI telling me how to think or what to feel.
The only exception to the AI rule for me are the people who either use their voice or get consent from a friend, to work together, to use their voice for something like creating a Diffsinger or ENUNU voicebank as that requires a lot more work than just typing a prompt on a keyboard and, when done in an ethical way, doesn’t involve theft in general. Similar reasons I support UTAU voicebanks and older vocaloid voicebanks that are basically confirmed not to have used AI.
As for other forms of technology, I will absolutely agree with OP on fearing the people over the technology, even if I don’t fully understand it all. Except for VR. I’m 100% worried, with the way my brain currently works, that someday we’ll have realistic enough VR that I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference and that scares me a lot.
