My main tactic to avoid answering a question is deflection. Either give an absurd answer (most people don’t follow up) or just enough to placate them and move on.

“what did you do this weekend?”

Absurd - “oh, nothing much, just climbed mount everest in a clown suit.”

Just enough - “spent some time in the garden”. (note this must be true bc there may be followups, but it’s boring enough to be dropped)

Daily?! I clean mine weekly and I put coffee and milk in them. I drink my coffee by lunch and rinse them out 3x. I turn them upside down and air dry the 2nd half of the day. They’re dried by end of day. Do that 5x a week. Wash on the weekends.

Yes. We do what we must to survive. It’s masking. I am many people. I am one person at work, I play the game of being social. I am another at home with family, I play the game of house member. I am another person with friends, I play the game of a buddy.

You decide if you want to follow the rules and earn their prizes or find another system to exist in. It’s far easier said than done. I chose to follow the rules. You might not.

Very, very rarely. One time I did, though, was because I didn’t study the topic enough. I asked an insider, a current employee, friend-of-a-friend, for advice. They said to not focus on it and only on my experience. After I did t get any info back from HR, I asked and promised I’d only reply with “thank you”. They said I bombed the interview because I didn’t cover the topic enough. My insider was either wrong or misled me.

One other time they actually called me back later and emphasized I was missing the key point. I had 90% of what they wanted but the 10% included a deal breaker.

Mind you, this is HUNDREDS of applications.

I haven’t liked his latest album. His previous stuff is top notch tho.

Game - Factorio. Literally broke my 5 year gaming fast. I’ve spent over 1000 hours in it.

Film - Boondock Saints. Not a fan of the gore in it, but damn is the rest of it amazing. Willem Dafoe, excellent as usual.

Book - I honestly don’t know if I’ve read any indy books. I don’t know the production status of books.

I’ll second Swiss Army Man. Very weird, very enjoyable.

Not my parents. Both of them are negative examples. One is a garbage fire. The other tried, and I love them for that, but didn’t do great.

MacGyver. Geordi LaForge. I’ve wanted to be an engineer since I was tiny. I love taking things apart and building things. Additionally, they’re both very caring, supportive characters who take care of others.

That’s kind of the point in Renfield where he’s an evil vampire. It’s kinda great.

If you’re ever curious, watch the Rock in No Pain No Gain. He’s a supporting character and dumb as hell. It’s one of my favorite roles of his.

I hate him, too, but he was good in Blade Runner 2049. I mean, the role should have come naturally since he was playing a narcissistic sociopath.

Hah, you’re probably right! I like superman because it’s so over the top with powers and black and white morality. It’s unrealistic hopefulness is why I like it.

That teaching isn’t the point. It’s getting research grants or funding. So much energy was spent on that. Students came 2nd.

One of my favorite things about getting older is that I give less of a shit about anyone else’s opinion, every year. When you’re 40, you’re gonna laugh at how worked up you got about this.
