couple forums and older ones have decent value, you can even sell suble ad like posts, didn’t see that til after my permaban, people will pay you money to post on your account with karma/age about their stuff lol, makes me really dislike that system more, like most new ppl cant even get help because they can’t comment/post in most subs.
I wish I could scroll it and get the daily dopamine but I forget about it, mostly just google searches these days, it used to keep me actively into my hobbies since I get distracted, but not being able to comment irked me so I stopped browsing the app (plus the fat red you are banned banner on every page)
I feel like I went through withdrawals, took like a month to get over it, now I rarely use reddit, not missing anything, just thought I was, I guess I do miss reddit from like 2015, but it was getting worse every year, one of my last posts months before my permaban was asking for alternatives. (It’s how I found lemmmy lol)

They always have mid apps, are the apps/infrastructure that hard to replicate by companies with this much funding? it always feels like some small team’s project straight out of college. They barely feel better than solo developed loops.

like it’s possible yes, but ppl act like that means it is a great game engine that everyone should use, sure it’s possible, but it’s likely not any easier than using unity/unreal engine, s@box hopefully will take some of their base since you can eventually publish your own games without any fees.
vrchat is also like this + furries, they also kinda groom them into furries by not allowing them into their exclusive clubs and kinda bullying them into being one, saw a video on it, discord cults too
cachyos, post install click install gaming packages, in steam goto compotability switch it to proton cachyos, done, there is no struggle, it grabs heroic and lutris too for non steam stuff
damn could usbs be used as disposable os, i guess thats why tails is used that way, since its bad for the usb to use it that way, they are getting pretty cheap for the fast ones, idk why youd need a dispoable os you could lose at any second tho, maybe if it was very connected to a cloud service
I went through the hassle of dualbooting and accessing my drive through linux (not that much hassle but as a beginner it was), ended up uninstalling windows, but i had time to tinker, which is key to making me like it, I was okay with not having a usable pc and I learned what I needed/wanted as substitutes. If you don’t have time experiment on a side device or using an ssd, they are fairly cheap now, you could even use a cheap fast usb if you don’t mind it shitting the bed eventually.
bro just grab a cheap ssd and enclosure, install linux on that, slowly play around and setitup, if you like it eventually swap ssds or install it on your main one
