Good to know for future reference! Thank you!
Cool! Thank you for clarifying!
I think for those types of communities having it be open but restricting commenting to flaired users that are verified makes way more sense. I’m not sure if that’s possible on Lemmy, but it’s an easy way to have the best of both worlds.
You would hope that no houses would be built in potential flooding zones, but that involves pesky things like ‘regulations’ or ‘caring about other peoples lives’.

I feel you can be somewhat aware of your own beauty in that many people typical find partners that have a similar level of attractiveness to themselves.
Also, I’ve heard there are some narcissists that are aware of their narcissism. That doesn’t necessarily mean they are trying to subvert it though.
I think you can have a rough idea of your own intelligence in contrast of others, at least within a defined scope. But there are many different types of intelligences out there so it’s a bit of a spectrum. Especially comparing things like textbook knowledge of the field, on the job experience, interdepartmental knowledge, and emotional intelligence.
A life jacket is what can help save you once you exhaust yourself fighting against a torrent of water. If you need to do something a bit reckless to save yourself or someone else, then it can help you catch your breath a bit and keep your head above water.
The thing is, if you are needing to rely on a lifejacket, the situation may already be a bit desperate. If you are able to get some kind of an early warning system, then that will go a lot farther at helping you get to safety. Getting a lifejacket could help make a difference if you are in a potential flood zone.
They really got to make this more well known. The top search results didn’t list those apps either for being PieFed integrated.
What???
Wow, I’m surprised that’s not the top Google result or App Store result for PieFed.
I wrote my comment on the Voyager app too lmao.
I’d be inclined to check it out but it looks like they don’t have a mobile app I can use. Lemmy at least has a few different feature robust apps you can use to access Lemmy. I might check it out when I’m on desktop, but that would be a fraction of the amount of time I spend online.
Such days don’t need to be so far away. I feel that taking in the joys of the moment has helped me a lot with being able to thoroughly enjoy the small things in life again. There could always be unpleasantness in front of me or behind me, but in this moment I can make space for the life I want to be living and being the person I want to be.
I think it’s a little hard on the other side of that as well. I have a lot of friends and it’s hard to not let someone down because things get busy and I get booked out so quick. Planning things a month out is the most realistic way I even get to see people these days.
I haven’t even seen my best friend in person for like two years now because we’ve both been slammed :/ I don’t know how reassuring that is, but I hope you don’t see it as people being against seeing you but some people feeling a bit overwhelmed by other stuff going on. Your best bet at knowing if things between y’all are good is asking to do an activity together a few weeks from now and catching up then. I hope this helps! :D
Imo it would only work here if everyone does it at the same time and if it’s implemented by legislation enforcing it. If one company does it, their competitors can take advantage of the perceived differences.
I believe that, it’s probably the same people that were already going to try to cheat on their assignments and stuff, but are turning their brains off even more with LLMs. Lots of them probably aren’t even reading the slop the LLMs spit out before handing it in. I’m hoping teachers and professors make their way back to hand written answers for assignments, personally. At least then students physically have to read some of the text that’s getting written.
Most people don’t want to use them in the workplace, only the super tech bros from what I’ve seen. I don’t see AI having a big impact, especially since people don’t care to have it replace their jobs. I think if AI was here the. lots of jobs could be at risk, but LLMs aren’t AI and I doubt they will be in the next 5-10 years. LLM prompts can’t do 90% of all jobs. They can help summarize and pull a first draft for some stuff, but as an end product they can be pretty trash and don’t sound natural whatsoever.
I think you’re right about the LLMs ruining the entities that rely on them though.
If California is allowed to look good, then it hurts the credibility of their ideology.
I think there are some criticisms about Californians leaving the state raising housing prices in their own state. That’s just how supply and demand works though when the supply of houses suddenly becomes more limited in your area.
They like to say things along the lines of: “Californians messed up their own state with their high taxes, fled here, are driving all the prices up, and are now trying to bring their fAiLeD PoLiTiCs to the state.” The real answer is that California is such a desirable place to live that there are not enough houses and well paying jobs to go around. People leave the state because of unregulated capitalist pressures, not because of the state’s strong social programs.
It’s not just Californians moving to other states that are driving prices up. Housing prices going up is also caused by private equity firms buying up available properties, a slowdown on building new houses capping supply, people from other states moving, and Not In My Backyard people trying to prevent lower cost housing in their towns since they don’t want the price of their house to ever drop.
Having strong social programs in their own states could actually help mitigate the impact of prices going up for housing as well as for other goods and services. For instance, they could have their own state provided healthcare coverage to help them have guaranteed healthcare. They could have better public transportation systems so they are not so car reliant to get to work. Rent controls in place to mitigate landlords pricing people out of the area. Affordable housing construction. Even things like public utilities could be offered for less by the state for gas, electricity, phone, and internet.
