You have to remember that before the war, Iran was suffering from widespread civil unrest. The political climate was very fraught for the current ruling class, and they were responding with armed force against their civilians. At first, many Americans thought an Iran war would target this ruling class (and the military that was forcefully keeping them in power) in support of this movement. Instead America / Israel targeted civilians, a tactic which has been proven over and over to be hopelessly counterproductive to any legitimate goals in modern warfare.

And so DJT and Hegseth and Bibi played into their hands. This war is cementing the position of Iran’s government, and (reluctantly) rallying the fence sitters against a common enemy, and quieting the voices of dissent. It’s proving Iran has real military power projection in the Middle East through the Strait of Hormuz and oil / fertilizer prices globally.

So- why bribe him? He’s doing exactly what they need him to do.

Wasn’t Tehran on the brink of running out of water at one point as well?
