    Make the legal route dangerous so everyone avoids and become “illegal”

    The same “the government doesn’t work, here I’ll prove it” method they use.

    If I was an immigrant, I wouldn’t either. I would go even further and “disappear” off of the map. It’s just like 1940’s Germany in the US right now.
