It is sadly a part of canadian restaurant culture but not seen as mandatory. Canadian service workers are regulated to be paid at least minimum wage.

Companies mostly use tipping here as an excuse for the wages to not come out of their own pockets. If tips received equal or exceed minimum wage then they don’t have to fork out the cash. If the employee only made $10hr in tips then the employer fills in the rest.

Because of this, I mostly refuse to tip. I’m not going to subsidise a restaurant paying their employees. If you can’t afford to pay people you shouldn’t be in business.

The point I’m making is that a person who chronically overeats isn’t going to know when “enough is enough”. It’s incredibly easy for a person to overshoot their TDEE and end up gradually gaining weight while only eating until they’re full.

I say this as someone who works out 6 days a week, cycles 250km a week and works a fairly physical job. I probably eat close to 3500 calories a day just to maintain weight and I could still probably have some snacks.

If I wanted to lose weight and not count calories how would I do that? If I wanted to drop body fat and maintain muscle mass how would I do that without counting calories and macros?

Okay but like… What if I’m so used to eating a lot that I can pack down 3k cals in one go?

I typically play female characters in games too. Always have. They’re something outside my world experience, I can experience the story through a lense I may not have seen otherwise.

It’s nice to see yourself represented but like… Shiiiiiiit dude. I’m reading a book or playing a game to be immersed in the story. Why people put so much stock into who or what a character is; it’s beyond me.

I just want some good stories with good characters. I can’t fucking wait to kick ass as Cirilla in the Witcher. I loved being Girlboss V in Cyberpunk, Senua was stellar.

I’m with you. Automatically charging sounds like a nightmare. I still always want a human to verify everything a computer says. I don’t trust a corporate entity to not try and rio me off.

A lot of the issues you mentioned get solved in season 2. I think there was a network shift and the camera work got better. Later on Amazon pumped a lot of money into the show as well. It’s really worth the watch and I’d love to hear back from you if you do.

The writers did a fantastic job writing all the dialogue in the books. I would argue it’s on par or even better than the show. Which is hard, considering the writers for the books produced and even wrote the screenplays for the show.

As someone who shares a line of work with Bobby Draper and many other characters, the military jargon and quips are also spot on. Never have I heard such accurate lingo and expression in sci-fi.

The Expanse may be the best bit of sci-fi I have ever had the joy to watch and read.
