  • If everyone was idealistic about every aspect of life, we’d all commit suicide very rapidly.

You might think this is super important, but to someone else, the reach of mainstream social media might be worth it for they care about an issue they feel is more important than yours that needs attention, or just straight up focus on other things.

You a vegan? You have solar panels? You buy clothes that you are absolutely 100% sure comes from fairly paid people the whole way down the line? You buy a fairphone? You using a linux pinephone? You… Its never ending.

Purity dramatics like that of your comment arent actually helpful and just demoralize people who are likely there with you 99% of the way generally.

  • This is why people who are gung ho about AI policing need to slow their role.

If they got their way, what they don’t realize is that it’s actually what the big AI companies have wanted and been begging for all along.

They want AI to stay centralized and impossible to enter as a field.

This is why they want to lose copyright battles eventually such that only they will have the funds to actually afford to make usable AI things in the future (this of course is referring to the types of AI that require training material of that variety).

What that means is there will be no competitive open source self hostable options and we’d all be stuck sharing all our information through the servers of 3 USA companies or 2 Chinese companies while paying out the ass to do so.

What we actually want is sanity, where its the end product that is evaluated against copy right.

For a company selling AI services, you could argue that this is service itself maybe, but then what of an open source model? Is it delivering a service?

I think it should be as it is. If you make something that violates copyright, then you get challenged, not your tools.

  • Yup. Thats the type of chart I would call a rolling sales chart. Amazon does the same, as does Bestbuy.

    Many retailers do frankly.

Waiting a week can often save you 25-30%, and the high price would have been labelled a sale just the same as the low price, so no one would be any wiser to this without tracking the price.

  • A term for a regular sales price that comes back at normal not specifically event related intervals.

For instance many clothing stores will just have a “sale” every 4 weeks fore the same prices as the sale 4 weeks ago.

Another example is consumer electronics. Look at any price tracker and they’ll usually follow a very loose pattern

Relevant random example of some harddrive

  • I hate not using that phrasing because I know I am fallible, but to many normal people, even if you know you can be wrong, you give a confident response.

If there is any chance I could be slightly incorrect I use this phrasing, but this really has meant that some people are more grating to me than others because they will think you arent confident or smart if you show any signs of being able to acknowledge your fallibility

Real consuuuuumers know that if you want an actual deal on something you plan to buy, you should wait for a rolling sale.

This has the added bonus of forcing you to think about how much you actually want to buy said thing, and also comes around pretty frequently so you don’t have to wait for any yearly events.

All time low prices are just not worth it in terms of time investment monitoring sales unless the thing is your hobby or you are really hard on cash and the purchase is a necessary one and a stretch for you, but then those purchase usually are not ones you can wait for anyways.

  • This is Politics, it’s not 1D or 2D, it’s N-Dimensional

This is the point I made and that your comment ignored.

it’s not just possible but pretty much a Mathematical certainty than in a country were there are only 2 parties they will match perfectly on some dimensions, even whilst not at all matching in others.

This is a strawman. No person is claiming they don’t have any aligning opinions.

Trying to dismiss away that aspect of Reality (which is incoveninent for tribalists) with sloganeering like “bothsiderism” is just parroting propaganda meant for simpletons who see reality as having just one dimension where there is nothing more than 2 sides.

This is you continuing to argue against the strawman.

    The rest is also that.

  • No. I seem like the type that would not give this store money for being shitty towards their customer base.

as i said ina previous comments, people like you would make it habit to smell bad on purpose to illict reaction, and this has made people lose actual tourney games.

This isn’t an argument against anything I said, its just throwing out insults pretending that they’re true so you dont have to have any logic to your point.

Those people would be kicked out regardless of the useless customer bashing sign.
