Hmm; so about 14Gs + a good long barrel and I should be able to launch a baby at least to Mach 2 or 3.
Stopping might be a problem, but that’s one for whoevers gonna catch it.
I wonder what the maximum muzzle velocity for a child would be (without just killing it immediately).

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who have moved away from your home town/area, what do you miss most?English
14·20 days agoI miss the layout of my neighbourhood from when I was 5-10 years old.
I lived in one of the middle units of a 10 unit townhouse. Each had a ~30’x30’ fenced in backyard that opened up to a large field and playground. The u-shaped roads that flanked this field and the houses along them left a large cross shaped grassy alley on either side of the field.
I’m not sure that description does it justice, but this setup created a huge amount of grassy space for the surrounding neighbourhood kids to run around in, while keeping them somewhat contained. There were only 3 entrances/exits to this neighbourhood that were pretty well supervised by parents, so the kids were able to roam a pretty big area without anyone having to worry. Something I’ve come to appreciate more with age.
It also meant a TON of snow to build and play with in the winter, without playing in the road :D 🇨🇦
Just some cookies. I’m easy.
Can I have all your stuff if you don’t recover?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you familiar with that thing where you eat popcorn and you get a tough little piece lodged way back in the depths of your mouth right by the base of your tongue?English
6·28 days agoI don’t recall that ever happening with any other foodstuff.
Strawberries. The little seeds get stuck wedged between my teeth, or wedged into the top of molars; where I’ve either got to poke at them with my tongue and finger for a few hours, or dig them out with a dental pick.

4·1 month agoFair point.
The self-hosting part was mostly about total control over my own systems and less about the paid features. It’s very much not necessary.
As far as pro features go, It was the TOTP authenticator integration that was kind of important to me. ~20% of my accounts have TOTP 2fa, and bitwardens clients will automatically copy the latest 2fa code into the clipboard when filling a password.
Bitwarden will even tell you if a saved account could have 2fa (the service offers it), but it’s not setup/saved in bitwarden atm.

12·1 month agoI currently have 110 unique user+password combos. I wouldn’t want to change all those even once, if I were breached and had used similar credentials everywhere.
Bitwarden keeps them well managed, synced between devices, and allows me to check the whole database for matches/breaches via haveibeenpwned integration. Plus because I prefer to keep things in-house as much as possible, I even self-host the server with vaultwarden walled off behind my own vpn, instead of using the public servers. (this also means it’s free, instead of a paid service)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•why are gated communities hated?English
14·1 month agoThere’s a very large gated community right beside my apartment, that’s in between me and the lake I live near. If I could walk thru the gated comm, I could reach the lake in ~15min. Instead I have to go around which is more than twice as far with lots of up-hill.
Betcha she’s got a delicious pie waiting for you though…
A fresh tattoo is essentially an open wound for several days afterwards. I’d imagine you’ve gotta be more careful than usual about keeping it clean and free of infection. The elderly tend to be more prone to immune system issues.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you work at a job where you fundamentally disagree with the company's ethics?English
201·2 months agoIt’s never an easy decision to make and often you simply don’t have the resources to make it immediately; but if the work you do is immoral/unethical, your goal should be to remove yourself as soon as reasonably possible.
That said; sometimes even the need to provide for one’s self or family doesn’t outweigh the horrible things we’re asked to do. Where exactly that line is we’re unlikely to agree on; but in those situations sacrifices must be made.
You always have a choice, and it’s our choices that define us.

Luckily the few I watch on youtube add subtitles for the rest of us.
