When talking about obese individuals, the fat very easily gets in the way of surgery. Compared to a healthy patient the risk of complications during surgery is much greater and really not worth chancing it (most if the time)

I’d there’s one thing I’ve learned in all my studies, it’s that weight los drugs are shiiiiiit
Not because they don’t work, but because a general effect like “weight loss” usually comes with more than a few downsides

I’ve installed Linux mint about a month ago and it’s been great. The only real problem that stops me from moving everything over is:
I can’t properly play small untranslated Japanese games that aren’t on steam
To be clear, I can run them just fine, it’s just that the translator I used (VN Translator Neo) can’t be run on Linux. When I run it using wine, the window just goes black
I’ve tried a few other image-based translators, but they all either don’t run or don’t detect the game in wine
If anybody has a workaround (besides dual booting windows) I’d be very grateful

HollowNaught@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is one moral you have that most people don't agree with?English4·1 month agoI honestly agree 100%. I support all my LGBTIQ+ people, but in an ideal world I really shouldn’t need to. My support is purely there because there are people who actively want to hurt them, and for no other reason. Part of me worries that some of this support can come across as special treatment
Similarly, I wish people would stop bringing stuff like their sexuality/gender up without prompt, it just comes off as… self-centred, I guess? Bonus points if it’s in their twitter handle
That being said, probably my best online friend was a trans girl (mtf). None of our conversations revolved around them being trans, we just played games and laughed together. Good times

I honestly agree 100%. While I don’t do weed, I have a lot off friends that do and the amount of rhetoric I’ve heard about it’s lack of downsides and addictiveness is baffling. I can’t exactly say anything either, because they’re clearly looking for a “yes” answer and anything else won’t be accepted (I don’t want to say some of them are addicted, but smoking it near-daily for years isn’t a good sign)
I’m a medical student, so I’ve looked at quite a few studies, and they seem to align with what you’re saying: that you’re at a much higher risk of developing psychiatric disorders, as well as abdominal or lung diseases depending on your form of intake if marijuana is taken chronically
