JohnyRocket@discuss.tchncs.deto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What futuristic work of fiction is humanity closest to becoming?17·8 months ago100% no doubt The parable of the sower and subsequent book. I read that book - started reading it - in June this year and read it over about a month. It was very creepy to be reading a sci fy book set in the future that is now my present and while it is not as bad right now as Octavia Butler makes it out to be, we are definitely heading there if drastic action is not taken immediately.
Edit: the books in order: (Only two, sadly she died while writing the third but still both worth reading, there isn’t a clif hanger at the end) https://www.octaviabutler.com/parableseries

That “cloud to chip” stuff seems to be marketing bs to me, possibly a tpm like chip that can only be used by Azure services? Doesn’t seem to me that it overrides the os in any way, so Linux would probably just ignore it withou the right drivers.
JohnyRocket@discuss.tchncs.deto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are the rules of using the toilet in school in different countries?5·9 months agoSwitzerland: Generally you are only allowed to go during breaks and if you forget / don’t have time due to switching buildings you are told to suck it. Starting a certain age girls are allowed to go whenever, but only some teachers allow it in practice. During breaks though, I never had to ask a teacher.

I haven’t switched my number yet so I’ll have to see what coverage is like, but it will likely be very good cause switzerland.

Not entirely. She did qualify to represent Australia in Bbeaking, not just some rando australian and she does study culture, the cultural politics of breakdancing.

Yeah because driving 16 hours straight is stupid because you would just take the train and be driven 16 hours straight.
Car centric infrastructure should have never been introduced.
Thats what I am wondering. If so, its just standard lobbyism. If not, its time for me to continue not buying apple products. (And the others)
