Just because you want it to be wrong doesn’t mean it is.

Just because you want it to be wrong doesn’t mean it is.

That’s technically correct, but actually wrong.

This might be the dumbest take I’ve heard today.
Everything your smartphone does your laptop can do, too. Therefore, smartphones are useless!!
Everything AR can do that your smartphone can do today will be a hundred times more convenient because you don’t have to carry a slab of glass with you all the time. You just have to wear glasses. Like I already do anyway.
The only reason for smartphones to still exist in a world where AR is compact will be if we can’t figure out a way to efficiently input data without annoying everyone around us. As soon as that problem’s solved, nobody will be using smartphones anymore.

Yep, that’s why I was thinking of that example 😄

I agree. But unfortunately, nobody gives a flying fuck.

In theory, there’s a Million awesome business applications for it.
Let’s say you’re in construction and your glasses tell you exactly what to build where and how.
You’re a waiter and the glasses tell you which table ordered what, needs attention, etc.
You’re a network engineer and the glasses show you on every port which device is connected.
And don’t even get me started on the military applications.
Of course we’re not there yet. But that’s why they’re so obsessed with it. They want to be the first.

That mitigation timeline is brutal.

I feel like if AI would’ve written this, it would make more sense. This reads more like a fever dream.

A non-issue??? That is absolutely an issue, because 90% of consumers won’t know about this fix. It’s outrageous that a consumer facing brand introduces such arbitrary vendor lock-ins, especially without reason. It’s just like HP with their ink lock. An absolute dick move and should not be supported in the slightest.
It still impacts a lot of people because we here are in the minority and we can’t save them all. So it’s absolutely valid to have this piss you off.

I’m sure there’s some legal text somewhere that states that deleting only refers to the association with your user account, but the actual genome data will still be kept “anonymized.” There’s just no way in hell that they’re actually deleting it all. Their lawyers are smarter than that.

Wow. Remarkable. Magnificent. I’m so glad there’s an entire article about this minuscule feature.

Private Internet Access

Personally I just love that they didn’t even do a remake. They didn’t even do a remaster. They just did a rerelease. The absolute bare minimum. And they even screwed that up.

What are you talking about? The syntax is basically C with a few $ and -> sprinkled in, and it has just about as many security issues as any other language. Plus, it has been receiving a lot of great new features over the last few years.
I think you’re confusing WordPress with PHP.

That’s fine, at least they just increased the family plan pricing by 60%. Oh, wait.
Stop it, you’re scaring them! Fuck!
Fun fact: I was tying to be a jerk here! Sometimes it’s just nice to be a bit of an asshole on the internet. Don’t take it personally though. I’m sure you’ve done the same to someone in the past before. It’s just a fact of life. Sorry 🤷♂️
I agree that market share has nothing to do with whether people should care, and I agree that people should care about Firefox and other browser engines like Ladybird.
But at no point did the author of the article open that can of worms. He simply stated the fact that, in the real world outside of the Fediverse, nobody gives a flying fuck about Firefox. Simple as that. No reason to pull out the pitch forks over it. He stated a fact. Get over it.
