I have a soft center and part of me wants things to slow down and be more inclusive and understanding and to have time for more connection… and generally shift our culture away from survival of the fittest.

That didnt get me anywhere and i was poor as shit and was taken advantage of by employers and the system constantly.

Now i say fuck everyone else im getting mine and relish getting ahead. Its a learned behavior that i want to shed when i have financial independence. It is what it is.

He didnt lie about what his plans of action were, but he was telling everybody immigrants and foreign aid are the source of our problems. (Redunctionist i know)

So he did lie. And most people arent equipped for the disinformation age.

Its easy to say they should be smarter than that, but its also easy to say our administration shouldn’t be fabricating reality to further their platform. Blaming the masses seems pretty pointless to me. We all want better for ourselves. Maybe some are more outwardly selfish or racist or whatever but when are we going to learn to not frame 50% of america as inherently evil? Whats the point of watering down our perception of others?

What the fuck are you even talking about?

I absorb what i can through the media. I accept that i cant trust most information that reaches me. I keep track of what is right to me compared to what the news shows regardless if the event happened or was accurately portrayed. I try to understand how others feel about stuff too without being a bummer.

I have faith in myself to act according to my beliefs if/when the opportunity presents itself.

This is my disinformation cope. It takes the edge off of alarming news and keeps me engaged.

I dont think i ever used that on reddit. I dont expect volunteer devs to meet my list of demands to make lemmy like reddit, i just want ideas like this to be considered by their merit instead of community members shitting on stuff solely because reddit is doing it and “we arent reddit”.

I was frustrated because it seemed like people didnt want more people here, which is what prompted the post.

If we do agree we want more people here then im happy.

I mean honestly maybe this is a good project for me after im not so busy. I dont think we need to parse every new user to an ideal instance, but have a starting instance. Simple as that. Treat lemmy as if it were one website without additional instances and the only thing that would drive people to move from the default instance is their own motivation to customize their experience. So yes it would be a very simple, but inherently biased sign up.

Personally i would love to understand better what instances are viewable to other instances to help make such a tool but i havent set out to research that myself.

Its not about demanding new features from people who volunteer their time and money, its about the community being understood and maybe having some consesus about what we’d like to see because i do imagine the people who manage this instance care about what users want.

And its nice to talk about these things directly instead of having people speaking for the instance in a hundred conflicting ways in random posts.
