I don’t really understand my parents and they don’t understand me. And I don’t really understand my kids and they don’t really understand me.
I feel like the only person who really understands me is my wife.

Mustard yellow?

Thank you for this! I need to come up with some stocking stuffer ideas for my wife to get me. And I’ve been struggling. But something like this would actually be useful and fit the bill very well.

The only thing I’m aware of is him publicly slating a could of actors. He was very critical of Paul Dano from There Will Be Blood (which is a bit weird because that movie has been out for a long time). He also publicly slated Matthew Lillard, who seems like a genuinely nice guy and has a lot of fans. I think those (especially the criticism of Lillard) pissed a lot of people off.

There are usually two factors that can cause auto insurance rates to change:
My guess is the second factor is thinking into play for you and your rates.

Dementia.
ETA: As in, Trump kinda forgot who he was, and that he should be irrationally hating on him.

Strong agree on the lack of punctuation.
Medium has become a bit of a cesspool for low-effort hot takes. Sometimes the articles make a great point but are not very well written (as is the case with this one). But more often than not they are a single, unfounded, absurd rage-bait argument that’s been spun out into an article with the help of AI.

Pretty well, all things considered. I played off and on for about 15 years (more on than off). Got into an awesome family-friendly guild and made some very good friends. I still regularly chat with and occasionally play other games with some of them.
I became the leader of that guild eventually, but by then it was well into a slow death spiral. It was sad to see everything slowly fall apart and there being nothing anyone could do to resurrect it. That was kind of a painful life lesson.
But I also have some very fond memories playing with both my wife and my son, and with those friends.
Maybe I was to much of a ‘filthy casual’ to get drawn too deeply into it (I only casually raided sporadically). But even still, it did hook me in for a while. And even now it’s left an itch I can’t scratch. I miss the Wrath era and how vibrant and dynamic and crazy the ‘world’ could be.
Overall I feel like it was worth the time and money. But I know that’s not the case for many others.
My son still plays it sometimes and is trying to get me to come back for the new xpac. But I have zero enthusiasm for it. The last several months I was playing I would log in out of obligation and then almost immediately log off again because nothing sounded fun to do. I didn’t (and still don’t) like what they’ve done with both retail and classic. I guess I’ve moved on in life.

We’re also doing a good job destroying the planet, at least from the stance of making it inhospitable for life. Will life survive? Yes. Because “life, err, finds a way”. But it sure as hell won’t be because of the efforts of the most powerful and influential humans.

A lot of the comments here seem to be missing some key points from this article:

A few counterpoints to the circumcision pros that you mentioned:
Circumcision rates are dropping across America. In some areas they ared dropping faster than others, but from what I recall the get are basically dropping everywhere to some degree. So I expect bullying about it is on the decline as it becomes less common.
Also, the simple fact is that bullies will find any reason to be shitheads. So if it’s not circumcision it’ll be something else.
Any straight women who are grossed out by a natural penis are idiots, and your kid will be dodging an asshole bullet if they do reject him over that.
Better to let him decide if he wants to get it cut later or leave it uncut than to take away his free agency.

Citizens United strikes again.

I don’t trust some of the numbers in this article.
Microsoft Teams: 100% CPU usage on 32GB machines
I’m literally sitting here right now on a Teams call (I’ve already contributed what I needed to), looking at my CPU usage, which is staying in the 4.6% to 7.3% CPU range.
Is that still too high? Probably. Have I seen it hit 100% CPU usage? Yes, rarely (but that’s usually a sign of a deeper issue).
Maybe the author is going with worst case scenario. But in that case he should probably qualify the examples more.

A lot of self-promotion quotes in there from companies involved in the H1B visa industry. But one broad trend among them: this will empower developing and non-Western developed nations at the expense of the American tech industry - especially the tech industry outside the big 5 or 6 giants.

It’s the same reason IBM still exists. Massive multinational / government contracts keep them alive and healthy.

Oracle will be handling TikTok’s algorithm? Okay, so TikTok’s back-end workflow/decisioning engine will rapidly bloat up and will need to be completely replaced every two years. Got it.

There’s are still some consumer TVs out there that allow you to use the green without an Internet connection. Although they are kinda rare these days.

Sony Bravia. Because I just did this last year. My old TV was also a Bravia, and it lasted about 15 years. One big selling feature for me was that you can set it up as either a smart TV, or a ‘basic’ TV that doesn’t require an Internet connection and doesn’t pester you for one.
