UnpopularCrow@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Google's AI now listens to your English language phone conversationsEnglish152·1 month agoThe article claims that 1 trillion dollars was lost to scams in 2024 “based on research from GASA.org”. I cannot for the life of me figure out where this number comes from. Going to that website they say it’s based on ~58,000 surveys. I think they took the survey results, took the average amount of money the surveys claimed people lost and multiplied it by the total population of Earth or some nonsense shit. Their reports are blocked behind registration, which I’m not willing to do to find out their report is bullshit. Misinformation at its finest right here.

In my workplace, I’ve never seen it being used by someone who needed it. It is either taken by people who prefer it or when the other two stalls are filled up. Understand your point though.

Just didn’t know when to quit until it was too late. Both my primary doctor and the person who did the MRI thought it was hilarious. To be fair, it was.

I’ve found programming books useful because I tend to learn quickly from books. I know others do not. Regardless, if I’m reading a programming book, it is usually nearby a computer where I can try stuff out. At the end of the day, the time at the keyboard will be time well spent when learning a language.

It blows my mind that the EU even considers anything Orban says. He is on Russia’s side in a war where the EU is supporting Ukraine. And has led Hungary to a level of authoritarianism that no longer coincides with the EU rules of acceptance. It isn’t shocking that this nazi would bring back a “law” so he has more control over his citizens. What is sad is that so many other EU countries think it is a good thing. It is an obvious and egregious attack on privacy, something the EU has defended in the past. It is a shame that world-wide the pendulum is swinging the wrong way.
Most receipts contain a time stamp. I could imagine a scenario where someone claimed Mitch (if he was still here) was involved in a crime and he could use the donut receipt as proof of innocence.

I believe they split up into three teams and developed algorithms independently from one another. What surprised everyone was when they came back, all three teams had more or less the same image. I was on inhalators 2-4 times a day and even went to asthma camp (yep, you heard right). When I got older, my asthma naturally lessened so I was a Flovent guy until my insurance stopped covering it. Moved to advair (it is the same medicine as Flovent with something else added) at 220 twice a day. Mostly symptom free.
UnpopularCrow@lemmy.worldto Privacy@lemmy.ml•The EU Parliament has taken a stand for privacy | Proton0·2 years agoWhile this is good news, the fight for privacy in the digital age will never end. They will continue to take small bites until they have the entire pie. Unfortunately we never (or rarely) regain any digital right to privacy that has been taken in the past. The best we can do is halt the further erosion of our digital privacy through vigilance, education and protest.
“…instead they will do it by making some tech execs part-time lieutenant colonels in the Army Reserve while retaining their current full-time jobs. Welcome your newest recruits: Andrew Bosworth, CTO of Meta; Shyam Sankar, CTO Palantir; Kevin Weil, CPO of OpenAI; and Bob McGrew, OpenAI’s former research chief and current advisor to Thinking Machines Lab.”
I certainly wouldn’t want these four with me in a foxhole.
