I guess the Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) was just in my imagination then. What a dingus.

3·11 months agoAction Action also had those seamless transitions. I remember the first track would finish, and then the next track would start at negative time (ex: -00:30) and count to 00:00 (where the track would actually begin) with transition noise and music playing for those negative moments. I miss whole album concepts.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘The tyranny of apps’: those without smartphones are unfairly penalised, say campaignersEnglish
10·11 months agoWhat ticks my off is that I have the stupid Safeway card and the stupid Kroger card. But now there’s more deals, better deals if I do a digital coupon requiring the app on my phone, too. It’s not enough to know about all the regular items in my home, from celery to toilet paper, but they also must need to hoover up all my digital into as well? Dude, just buy it from Meta or whichever jerks have it all. Half-price grapes ain’t the right price.

11·1 year agoCrocheting is an inexpensive, versatile hobby that could absolutely result in art that you could sell online. Seriously, with a bit of string and a funny stick, and you can make lil stuffies, hats, scarves, etc. You can make cute ones, nerdy stuff, appeal to different fandoms/online communities. If you create a decent inventory, perhaps a local place by you would also feature your products for a cut.
I’ve seen cool button making machines for relatively inexpensive ($60~), but then you would need to have access to a printer and ink, so overall that’s a more expensive project. But that’s another option to think about as well.
My local favorite is apple slices+bacon, it’s the best.

17·1 year agoI commented this elsewhere too, but dude took this expertise with a tough subject and shared it well with the high schoolers he taught: Tim Walz’s Class Project on the Holocaust Draws New Attention Online https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/09/us/politics/tim-walz-holocaust-class-rwanda-genocide.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Ck4.FpW4.05czkX9J5r9u

World News@lemmy.ml•Tim Walz Accused of 'Anti-Semitism' for Master's Thesis Saying Holocaust Was Not Unique
8·1 year agoAnd back in the real world, he went on to use that critical thinking in classroom assignments, helping students understand actions and attitudes that lead to genocide: Tim Walz’s Class Project on the Holocaust Draws New Attention Online https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/09/us/politics/tim-walz-holocaust-class-rwanda-genocide.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Ck4.FpW4.05czkX9J5r9u
Tldr, in one of his geography classes, Walz taught his class about how violence rises, class voted on what country they thought likely to deal with that kind of violence, like a year later the Rwanda genocide began.
Ooh, remember the cordless landline phones? I’d always see how far from home I could walk before they’d cut out
As someone working at a college–yup. A lot of students don’t know how to log out, or find save files. Where would they have learned it, though? You never log out of mobile devices.

It’s a whole song, one of my favorites. Go listen!
