  • I run Qobuz through a roon server on my Linux pc and it works great. I also have qobuz set up through strawberry, but it’s nice to be able to switch the output on the fly between different audio setups in my house (between my office setup and my bluesound streamer in the living room). The interface for roon is nice, but I get that it’s kinda expensive and there are cheaper ways to achieve the same thing. I like to stream while I’m biking on my indoor trainer and sometimes it’s nice to spin up a few songs and let roon take the wheel to keep the vibe going. I can also stream qobuz through roon to my Google home devices, but it doesn’t stream bit perfect.

All that to say, I like qobuz and roon is pretty solid as well, albeit an extravagance and totally not necessary. The writeups qobuz has are also solid.

I do think the qobuz app interface leaves something to be desired.

  • I’m currently on paternity leave. Took 8 weeks broken into two chunks. 5 weeks when baby was born and 3 when my wife’s 12 weeks ended. I couldn’t imagine taking a few days and diving back into work. Both my wife and I work demanding jobs - I’m not sure I’d feel the same bond with my son if I didn’t have this time… I also wouldn’t have the same appreciation for how challenging it can be to be solo with the kiddo. It’s pretty much a full time job to feed, change, and tend to the little guy. He’s fighting to be a never napper and wakes up after 20-30 mins in his bassinet. Only gets longer naps if on my lap, which pretty much locks me down in whatever chair were in when he falls asleep (I know I can’t do contact naps forever and need to get him used to falling asleep on his own).

All that to say… I think all dad’s should get paternity leave. 5 weeks is fine. 8 is good. 12 is perfect.

  • This is what got me to switch to Linux (arch btw). I was getting blue/green screens 1-2x a week and it almost always ruined a gaming experience.

Now I can bork my system during an update, but at least I can game smoothly. My system hasn’t crashed once while in the middle of something (I have, however, fucked up my system post update and without a Time shift backup ready to go which merited a full reinstall - but it’s been a good learning experience overall)
