Xella@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it possible to “make” someone have seizures?6·16 days agoFor some people but it’s very rare. My great uncle had photosensitivity epilepsy and when he was pissed at us he’d turn his TV on to a channel that only produced static and he’d stare at it to trigger seizures.
Xella@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it possible to “make” someone have seizures?3·16 days agoI have grand mal and complex partial seizures. When I have the partial seizures I swear I’m getting a message from somewhere or that I can see the future… then a grand mal happens sometime after. Your friend might’ve had a different type of seizure that led to the grand mal happening at church.
I remember one time I had about 50 complex partial seizures in one day and I was convinced I was seeing the future in my dreams. They made me so tired that I just laid down for a nap. The second I closed my eyes I started having a grand mal. I didn’t even know I had epilepsy on that day lol, I was driving around my car and everything.
Xella@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it possible to “make” someone have seizures?10·16 days agoSure you can, if you know their trigger and you’re able to produce that trigger. Taking someone’s meds away could almost certainly cause a seizure.
As a fellow epileptic… please try to afford your meds in some way or form. I’m sure you know this already but as a reminder, the more seizures you have, the more susceptible you are to having a seizure. Please take you meds ❤️

Xella@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Just had a hospital group employee tell me to simply email medical informationEnglish4·18 days agoNo there is no rule in HIPAA rule that prevents you from sharing your own information. HIPAA specifically only applies to healthcare providers and vendors and their handling of your healthcare data.

Xella@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How does an average looking guy cold approach a woman?16·2 months agoI’ve been out of the game for a long time but I would suggest being extremely polite and only do this in scenarios where being approached by a rando would be acceptable. Maybe if she’s alone at a bar or some social event like Renaissance faire or comic con. Hell, if she’s just waiting in a line for something and you’re behind her, might as well talk. Be observant and do not interrupt her. Wait for an appropriate moment. If she rejects you, apologize, thank her for her time, and walk away(if you can) without another word.
I have been approached by men before while I’m doing something like looking at video games or comics/whatever. When they start by talking about what I’m doing that helped me open up to talk to them and it became successful interactions. Though I had to turn them down every time because I’m married lol I have made a few friends this way.
Side note… I don’t know why I’m like this but whenever a guy approaches me when I’m somewhere like home depot, auto zone, or Walmart, I become immediately annoyed and I don’t want to know them. LOL maybe this is just me. I’m at these places with specific goals in mind.
Sorry that I only listed out nerdy things, it’s all I know 😹. Good luck!

Xella@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have your parents ever said something so unhinged that you’re just left standing there like🧍♂️?12·4 months agoMy step father told me about the time he told my biological father that he had slept with my mom.
I was a small child and we were all living in a house together, my mom, biological father and step father(my bio dads bff at the time). Step father took my bio father out and told him what they had done. My bio father was so happy to hear the news he shook my step father’s hand and thanked him profusely. He then proceeded to tell my step father how he wanted to burn the house down with me and my mom in it so this is the best news he could possibly get.
After my step father told me this story he followed it up with “at that moment I should have known and left your mother” 🫠
You wouldn’t understand.
Lol I work in healthcare and Cloudflare regularly blocks incoming electronic orders because the clinical notes “resemble” SQL injection. Nurses type all sorts of random stuff in their notes so there’s no managing that. Drives me insane!

So probably yes
Why is it everyone’s problem that parents can’t figure out that their kids shouldn’t have unlimited unrestricted access to the internet? They know not to let their children loose on the Las Vegas strip, why can’t they apply the same logic to the internet? I don’t agree with 10 year olds looking at porn even slightly but also it’s not my problem. I’m tired of the world making everything child friendly. I don’t have kids for a reason and if I want to watch Human Centipede 1-4 while blasting hardcore dwarf deepthroat gangbang porn then that’s my prerogative.
Exactly. No need for anything else.
