I’d agree, but the joke was funny.

And yes, obviously nobody would do business in China if they didn’t share the profits. Hopefully nobody will ever do business again with a shithole like russia.
Except Nvidia is the third largest company in the world with a ton of existing IP that they would effectively be handing over to a country that has a history of stealing IP without any repercussions and had the resources to take advantage of that IP and make Nvidia irrelevant.

China has no successful companies that aren’t approved, controlled and often subsidized by the party.
daq@lemmy.sdf.orgto Technology@lemmy.world•NVIDIA Rumored To Collaborate With DeepSeek To Develop Custom AI Chips For China; Massive Turnaround Plan For Domestic MarketsEnglish52·19 days agoBigger problem than tmsc is that China will just “legitimately” steal all IP and replace them with another company within a year. Moving to China is insane if you don’t plan to bend over for the party.

Not shitting on Waterfox, just FYI.
daq@lemmy.sdf.orgto Technology@lemmy.world•FOSS infrastructure is under attack by AI companiesEnglish1·2 months agoOf course their challenge requires those things. How else could they implement it? Most users will never be presented with a challenge though and it is trivial to disable if you don’t want to ever challenge anyone. I was just saying CF blocks ML crawlers.
daq@lemmy.sdf.orgto Technology@lemmy.world•FOSS infrastructure is under attack by AI companiesEnglish1·2 months agoHuh? I can reach my site via curl that has neither. How did you come up with this random set of requirements?
daq@lemmy.sdf.orgto Technology@lemmy.world•FOSS infrastructure is under attack by AI companiesEnglish24·2 months agoI’m not sure how they actually implemented it, but you can easily block ML crawlers via cloud flare. Isn’t just about every small site/service behind CF anyway?
daq@lemmy.sdf.orgto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is there a well-supported secondary SMS phone number service?3·2 months agoI don’t think that exists. I’m also looking for a cheap way to save my Skype number now that MS is shutting it down and can’t find anything cheaper than $8/mo or so.
I can’t even transfer it to Google voice directly because it is treated as VOIP number so I have to transfer it to a real phone first and then to Google voice. Not sure if it’ll work for SMS verifications after that.

Fewer cars = less traffic.
I’ve actually watched a city I visit regularly grow over about 20 years and it went from them having zero traffic to Los Angeles style traffic jams. This is despite their best efforts like making extra wide roads, using roundabouts, etc.
Most pollution comes from shipping, agriculture, and other large industries. Poor countries/people cannot contribute because they are barely getting by as is. Even if the entire middle class in wealthy countries magically switched to electric/public/bicycling, started recycling, stopped watering grass, etc. it would make no noticeable difference.
The idea that social changes at individual level can help with pollution comes directly from propaganda pushed by cunts who are actually killing our planet for profit. Fuck them. Don’t spread their lies.
Yes it was. That’s exactly what I was referring to.
daq@lemmy.sdf.orgto Fediverse memes@feddit.uk•The wokes are ruining my Lemmy!English1514·3 months agoThey are not as extreme, but you cannot realistically have a civilized discussion on their servers. Unfortunately they are much more established with several big communities which are hesitant to move to more reasonable servers so while hexbear was an easy insta-ban for me and most other Lemmy users, we’re stuck individually blocking ml users for now.
But hopefully because of the idiotic choice of the ml domain, they will eventually go the way of hexbear.

daq@lemmy.sdf.orgto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what’s a pun in your language, the english translation, and do you think it makes sense in english or has an english equivalent?6·3 months agoI’ve seen this before and always thought the verb was a stretch since it is definitely not used in modern English, but I do like the idea of forming a sentence this way.
daq@lemmy.sdf.orgto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what’s a pun in your language, the english translation, and do you think it makes sense in english or has an english equivalent?16·3 months agoI’m sure there’s a better example in Ukrainian, but
Як як? Ну як як? Як як як…
Not really a pun and not translateable as a joke, but same word that can repeat to form a sentence.
Joke is a guy went to the zoo and friend is asking him how was yak. He replies with yak was like yak.
Can confirm. Had to buy a Pacifica because I needed a wheelchair accessible minivan and only Pacifica offered the features I wanted. Absolute piece of shit of a car. I don’t think I ever regretted any purchase as much. I would 100% compromise on the features I wanted had I known how much this car sucks. I’m talking about a brand new 2024, very well equipped car. Do not buy a Chrysler. I can shit on this car for days AMA.
Red light cameras are fine as long as they work properly, but fuck the speed cams. Glad they are still illegal here.
