No one particularly interesting. I dig linux, politics (to a point), BBQ’ing, TTRPGs and poker.

databender@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What HATED or highly disliked movie you ACTUALLY really enjoyed?English2·5 months agoDark Fate was awesome, “The Return of Sarah Connor” and all that; I like that they’re talking about divergent timelines leading to the same destination - humanity destroying itself through tech. I’ll admit that Salvation wasn’t great, but if you give me a choice between no Terminators in a movie and Terminators in a movie I’ll take the first almost every time.
I just want to see Terminator vs Predator.
Dammit Biz, we’ve been over this. You might be my wife’s brother, but I’m not giving you my briskets.

I’ve got 5000w worth of generators, two wood stoves, water heater and stove are gas, and we have about three months worth of food in feezers/pantry (we stocked up right before covid lockdowns and have kept up with it since). We would probably be good for a while, but we have a lot of family in the area that would shorten that by a bunch.
nmh is my favorite. You would have to script your notifications though
Here to promote nmh, the hands down best email client in existence

databender@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Why you should (probably not) run SlackwareEnglish1·9 months agoLate reply, but I suppose you’re correct; I think the option to choose what to install, the lack of pre-created desktop stuff (“home/$username/Videos” for example) and the requirement that you handle software that isn’t in the base install all make a Slackware installation less bloated than most. Maybe not at install time, but over the life of the install you end up with less garbage IMHO.

databender@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Why you should (probably not) run SlackwareEnglish0·10 months agoIf you hate bloat you like Slackware. It doesn’t assume anything about how you want to use your computer, so it’s more painful for a lot of folks. Other distros will try to do things for you and will ultimately end up doing something someone doesn’t want. With Slackware you learn a lot and you get a rock-solid system that will do whatever you like, but you have to be willing to manage it.
Not FOSS, but Mega Hit Poker is the one I play.
Dig a pit, build a fire there, then once it gets going you cover it with dirt and place your plates in the dirt. Wait about 4 hours and then use a rake to find them. Nice and toasty.
