I’m not the person you were replying to, but the only issue I ever had using Jellyfin for music was that it seemed.a little finicky about matching artist/album when pulling down metadata, and I had to do more manual intervention.
The actual streaming functionality seemed perfectly fine, but I personally settled on Navidrome for music.

These days I pirate the music, and if I like it I go back and buy the album directly from the band (when possible). If i really like it, I buy concert tix/merch. If it doesn’t tickle my fancy, then I don’t.
In either case, I don’t think the artist is too worried about the pennies lost from my Spotify plays.
Think of it like two groups of people in separate rooms with a large open window between them. Not everyone is trying to talk one on one to the other group all the time. And sometimes just feeling like you’re in the same physical space can be nice.
It’s not perfect, but in many circumstances it’s worlds better than having tiny portable windows that mostly facilitate one on one conversation.
I’ve thought the same thing, Trying to hold a video call between families using a phone or even a laptop is such an awkward experience, especially if you want to just hang out virtually for an extended time like you said.
But it wouldn’t even have to involve a separate box or docked phone. Everyone’s got a smart TV that can run apps, so all it should take is a USB webcam with a decent far-field mic.
But yeah, in general I’m surprised this isn’t more of a common use case.
Yeah, Lidarr is easily the weakest of the *arrs in my experience. As a newbie to setting up that stack, it was definitely nice to have a similar interface and functionality between the apps, but the last few months have me ready to look for something different for music.
As far as I can tell, no. I haven’t been able to search or import releases since about April.
I think the issue they are referring to is that Lidarr’s API or interface with the MusicBrainz database has been broken for a few months now, which means it’s impossible to search or add new artists/releases to your Lidarr library.
And as far as I can tell, it’s still down. I have been unable to use Lidarr for anything since about April, except for finding releases that I had already added to my local database.
Sure, I totally agree that when you’re dealing many with orders of magnitude, the factor of 3 is dwarved by the other uncertainties.
But we’re talking about our solar system, and specifically the orbital mechanics of our planets and sun, where the quantities and scales only span a couple orders of magnitude in total. A factor of 3 absolutely makes a difference. That’s the difference between the orbit of Mercury and the orbit of Earth.
Then there’s the practical point that, regardless of scale, rounding a known constant by that much makes no sense at all, unless you’re trying to estimate huge numbers in your head. If you’re using even the simplest of calculator, estimating pi as 1 is a deliberate choice to reduce accuracy.
Nah, there is no way any astronomer studying orbital mechanics in our solar system is rounding pi to 1. There is virtually no practical calculation you could do on the mechanics of the sun or planets where rounding a known constant by a factor of 3 would yield any useful result whatsoever.
Rounding pi to 1 only makes sense when the uncertainty in the numbers is large, not the magnitude of the numbers, and we know the masses and distances of the objects in our solar system to an amazing level of precision!
Plus, the fact that Jupiter is massive enough to actually exert an influence that large on the sun is pretty fucking cool!
I mean, the outside looks pretty close to what I’d expect for unsauced meatloaf–there are clearly some darker brown areas. I do personally like to bake them at a bit higher temp to get some of those browned bits, but for a larger meatball, you may need to stay a little cooler to let it cook evenly without nuking the outside.
Whenever I’ve made homemade meatballs, we just bake them in the oven to cook, then either add to the sauce or serve separately.
I guess you’d just cook this monster like a lil meatloaf.
There are kind of two different questions here.
First of all yes, humans are pretty good at telling whether someone is looking them directly in the eyes or not. So if you were to ask someone directly whether you are looking in their eyes or some other part of the face, they would probably be right most of the time.
The second part is whether they would notice it consciously without bring asked. That’s a little trickier. I suspect if you were staring directly at some other part of their face, people might get self conscious (do I have a zit? Is my nose that huge?) But looking at a spot between their eyes, or shiftng your gaze periodically would probably fly under the radar.

I was firmly on team “LOL it’s a baby convection oven, big whoop” for years, but an actual purpose-made air fryer (not a toaster oven with air fry mode) cooks like an entirely different appliance.
No, I wasn’t doing any pre-processing other than “properly” formatting the track name and folder structure. So I can’t really blame Jellyfin, because I know that tagging is part of the best process workflow. But I’ve just found Navidrome seems to be a little more hands off.
