  • With the tools available now, a smaller team can make projects that compete with much larger studios, mostly because they don’t have a hand tied behind their backs from having to paywall or monetize things. Currently playing Motortown: Behind the wheel, it’s literally a single dev making it and it’s just an all around great experience. He implements what he and the players want without extra fluff or cash grabs and players are spreading the word around about our love for this game so he doesn’t need marketing.

I don’t think big budget AAA games will change much going forward, the businessmen always think they know best and they’ll continue to make games worse if they believe it’ll increase profit. An indie game will just never produce fortnight or GTA money, so they’ll continue to want games that can replicate that model.

  • It’s the same in every industry. Rich shit bags move in and buy successful entities but have no idea how to run them. They slowly get shittier, so good employees move on and do their own thing.

There’s still amazing games being made, there’s just a lot more shit games you have to sift though. Follow great game devs, not who they work for.

  • At this point nearly any device with a screen can emulate SNES games and the consoles that came before it. I have a cheap Chinese retro game handheld from Ali Express and it’s honestly so refreshing to play games that aren’t begging me to spend extra money.

Also, playing fan translations of games that weren’t released in the west like mother 3 and dragon quest monsters is so cool. 10 year old me would be so jealous.

Haven’t been on one in years, but women would put “guys over x height only” in their dating app profiles. I saw it as an advertisement that those particular women were very insecure and should probably be avoided, but it was a significant number of them nonetheless.

  • Don’t feel bad. I’m a man in the USA working in a corporate office. When my son was born I took my time off and it was fantastic for bonding with my son and helping my wife out. Honestly IDK how so many women do it alone.

I’d feel worse about making my wife work extra hard than my colleagues… That said, the person covering my area screwed everything up so badly I decided it was better to find a new job vs fix it. So I took my three months, worked a week and put in my notice and got paid out for another two months of accrued leave.

  • You can copy and paste values to another workbook and sort but it’ll kill almost all the useful information. We’ve got these massive docs that reference numerous tabs and populate parent+children lines. It’s an absolute mess and takes 6 months of training, I look at it as job security lol
