Discovery Zone, man. I actually feel bad for the kids that never got to experience Discovery Zone. Lasted for like 2 years. It apparently failed because they had a mountain of debt (all those plastic tubes are capital intensive buildouts) and adults had to sit around while their kids played.
I feel like if you made it work like a gym membership for your kids, and had something for adults to do off to the side, you might be able to make the numbers work.
Some of that is from white balance making the top picture look warmer, but even accounting for that, it’s a tragedy.

The best examples of raytracing are in applying it to old games, like Quake II or Portal or Minecraft.
Newer games were already hitting diminishing returns on photo realism. Adding ray tracing takes them from 95% photo realistic to 96%.
Well, a plucked bird does look pretty different. Then again, fossilized feathers for dinosaurs have been found, so it’s not like we’re completely blind to that, either.
Every time I take an airplane, I feel tired and worn out. I don’t want to do anything for the rest of the day except take a nap.
Trains are no problem.
The main reasons might be relatively low oxygen at altitude (cabins are usually pressurized somewhere between 1/3rd to 1/2 atmosphere) and uncomfortable seats. But I think the whole dreary process of getting on and off the airplane is part of it, too. Train stations are so much more low key, even in large metropolitan areas.
But we wouldn’t see sunrise/sunset.
The Estes Corporation makes rockets that will do 600 meters.
It’s great that Honda is doing this. We really need other companies in this area, because SpaceX is dominating it. Even if Elon weren’t a walking disaster, we don’t want one company so badly outclassing everyone else.
Eh, it’s just a start of development. It only goes 300 meters. Blue Origin goes higher, but even they aren’t in orbit.
Japan also has some odd limitations on their rockets as part of their self defense only constitution. They don’t build a rocket that could potentially be used to strike mainland Asia.
Who could have guessed that ahead of time? The industry is famous for seeing a successful new strategy and then driving it into the ground with a list of copycats. The strategy has made so much money before; why would it ever have failed this time?

I’m unimpressed by the people who use it.
It’s not like they’re part of a company whose core product is search.
Honestly, they’d be horrified at a bunch of things, some of which are on MAGA, and some on progressives. Maybe we shouldn’t be taking the ideas of slaveowners from over 200 years ago as seriously as we do.

Big Tech has done everything they can to convince people that they absolutely cannot be trusted with this.
As the article notes after '94 the number of Democrats the NRA could support steadily dwindled.
Cause or effect? Did NRA contributions dwindle because Democrats changed their mind, or did Democrats change their mind because NRA contributions dwindled? I know what the article says, but that’s not the only possibility.
No amount of political donations to Democrats, or anyone else, should have insulated them from the consequences.
Which is nice to say, but we all know how that works. If both parties were in their pocket, it’s far less likely they would have been a target.

An issue with only having two political parties is that a special interest group can split their donations to both election candidates and win either way. At some point, the NRA forgot that and only funded one side. That left them vulnerable when there was widespread financial fraud in the organization; only one side was willing to come to bat for them.
Which sports team am I supposed to root for with this map? Do you expect me to make a careful analysis of team history and current lineup? Or do I pick the one in the state I was born in like a normal person?
