Supposedly you can disable it, but I haven’t got it to work. For example if you download a sensitive file, do something with it, and delete it. You can see this in the FSEvents database.

Using AI to produce software faster only helps capitalists companies extract more value out of their workers in a shorter time. This actually reduces worker worth, as their salary isn’t increased to match their increased output, the company takes more from them.
Outside of a work context there is zero incentive to use AI, as you can take all the time to learn and craft quality code.
It’s stuck on iOS 16. Once iOS 26 releases, companies will quickly pivot to iOS 17 as the minimum supported version and slowly you will find important apps no longer work on the phone.
The problem is that when we rely on capitalist companies to produce the software we rely on, they will reduce cost as much as possible. This leads to them not wanting to pay for separate teams to develop native desktop applications on Windows, macOS or Linux.
While I hate Electron apps as well, they are how Linux became much more able to run these proprietary apps society depends on. We know the capitalist companies wound’t invest in native Linux software, as the user base is too small.

Apple already did this in Hong Kong to appease China. They took down apps that were used by protesters to coordinate, they even modified AirDrop so it couldn’t be easily used for ad hoc communication.

CEO will come out and say employees are more productive when forced to work 5 days a week. When asked to see the data, they will say trust me, I’ve seen the internal studies from a Big Tech company. Same exact playbook as work from home.
Most interesting would be a forced sell of Android. Would all of the Google spyware be stripped out of Google’s Android distribution? Would we see more official distributions of Android without any Google software?
I would say it is one sided in that the user gets the same treatment/experience from either platform even though they are consider rivals and each company would argue they are different.

Originally they were pretty different in terms of functionality and appearance. Android has improved a lot in terms of the user experience and UI, but also has become more locked down and user hostile. I would say that iOS has actually gotten worse in terms of bugs/reliability, and now Apple is relying on services and ads for new revenue. The user experience has suffered.
If you want a mobile phone/OS that respects user freedoms, agency and privacy, there is no consumer option. Both are filled with spyware/data collection from both the OS vendor and third party apps.

One answer to capitalist companies seeking to maximize profit at all costs are worker owned companies. When the workers are in control of the business decisions, they won’t vote for the decisions going against themselves.

If more people would be willing to start work owned companies rather than your typical capitalist startup, we could have more options.
For macOS and iOS development I use Xcode (don’t really have another choice), but otherwise I am using Kate. Kate has support for macOS and Windows in addition to Linux.

Yeah, but the issue is they didn’t buy a legal copy of the book. Once you own the book, you can read it as many times as you want. They didn’t legally own the books.
