No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If you were dropped into a pool of people's spit and prevented from getting out, would you melt to death?English
1·7 days agoIt definitely wouldn’t be good for your skin. That being said, your first concern would be becoming exhausted and drowning. If you’re eventually let out before you die, it would be a factor in your recovery, though.

242·8 days agoSo, let’s do some breakdown. Let’s say 365.25 days per year. Divide by 12, that’s 30.4375 days per month. 100 hours per month is 3.29 hours per day. That’s almost 23 hours per week.
A reasonable person working 8-5 might get 2 hours of recreation per day during the week. That takes up 2 hours per day, 5 days a week for 10 hours during the week. That leaves 13 hours on the weekend, or 6.5 hours per day.
Realistically, that’s a reasonable amount of time to play video games. On the other hand, fuck these arbitrary restrictions, play games locally.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How would you calm down somebody if neither of you speaks the other’s language?English
3·9 days agoSome people are just hysterical. It’s just how such emotions are expressed in their culture.
My first step would be seeing if I can get them to sit down with me. Start with pulling up two chairs, sit down in one, and gesture at the other.
Once that’s done, try to get Google translate pulled up in conversation mode if you recognize what language it is. If not, step 1 is figuring that out. Try the app as a stopgap, then reach out to your organization’s translation resources.
There’s a few differences. One is the length. Another is the randomness. The biggest, though, is that in a passkey, the server is verified as well. That means phishing is nearly impossible.
They had us in the first half
I’ve thought about it. I got just barely enough going for me to not, though.

You sure about that part?
It’s a mental game. It’s suspension of disbelief. You do have pages behind you - 144 of them. Obviously; Because this is page 145. So you are in the middle. You’re 145 pages in. It says so right there.

There aren’t actually 145 blank pages. The numbering just starts at 145

Agreed. This is a total goomba fallacy.
