Pixel 8 did not get the multi model Gemini update simply because it lacked the additional RAM needed for the LLM. Its the same with this feature. They brought battery health and charge counter in android 14.
They could’ve bought this to pixel phones if google did not skimp on the hardware.
Software updates will always have hardware limitations
I know but, since they were going to work on this feature and had starting with android 14. It does not make sense to skimp on it for a year old hardware. Same with the RAM limitation on the pixel 8.
They have been working on the battery health feature for a time. Android 14 brought the charge counter to supported phones. It would be unreasonable to say they did not know.
Maybe, google should’ve included the necessary hardware if it was going to bring the feature to pixel down the line. 7 yrs of updates with missing features does not inspire confidence in them.
Interesting that the 8a will get this feature. But, pixel 8 and 8 pro won’t.
Banking and other apps utilizing the new Play Integrity API will stop working if it won’t receive latest OS and security updates.
I use an app called SpamBlocker from fdroid. It supports regex filters and blocking non-contacts and is super comprehensive in this regard.
You can download the APks from his patreon if you subscribe. Someone mentioned buying lifetime license and I saw the price was $4 for one device. You can buy multiple licenses if you need more.
Wow, finally. The new changes are much appreciated and long. I like the blur UI from Smart Launcher 6 and what ColorOS has done for the notification shade. As long as they keep the unified notification shade. I’m fine.
Its still there. But, he is saying it can be removed if this continues with google.
That’s been dead anyway. I would rather they include the sdcard instead of removing it in favor of 256gb internal storage.
Some samsung phones are this bad and sometimes even worse (A53, M55).
I’m guessing its a samsung optimization issue alongside using cheap parts. Chinese OEMs in the same price range use faster chips and Vapor cooling chamber for improved performance.
What phone is that?
6Yrs of updates, OneUI and the Exynos 1480 are good (A major upgrade over the 7 gen 1 which had heating issues) and the only things worth about this. But, let’s not pretend this is going to compete against 6000/7000mah chinese smartphones with 80/120w super fast charging or IP69 durability.
If they had included an sdcard slot this could’ve been given a 2nd chance. But, they provide even less reasons to consider before.
Fusion has 3+4 yrs of software support. But, edge 60 pro and neo should have 5yrs of software updates.
Better compatibility(most every Linux command should work fine since the directory structure will be same unlike termux) and high number of apps. Also, unlike proot it will have better performance and run faster since its native emulation.
You should’ve read the article. In an ideal world every device phone gets this process done in seconds. But, we don’t and not everyone can afford to buy a decently powerful enough phone.
For those people, downloading the optimized odex files could be faster than creating them on device. Thanks to availability of super fast internet.
Based on the recent Edge 50 neo. 5 years give or take.
Imagine this being the default for 90% of people. Weird, huh?
The UI is not intuitive and I never allow notifications for websites. But, I guess it is for the regular user.
