I don’t think I have, I think I’ve only seen it since in renditions of it in movies like Perks of Being a Wallflower. It’s kinda crazy that this is still part of the culture ha. Show then movie comes out in the 70s, I see it a couple decades later high as a kite when watching it has been turned into a production itself and a couple decades after that it’s still a thing!
I remembered freshman year of college, I think on Halloween, there was a showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. I knew people were into it but I had no idea what it was about. Soooo I ate a street-bought edible and went to it by myself. I had no clue how the audience was all reacting and shouting the same shit at the screen and trying to reason with my high brain like…are they all reading a script? What is happening?? Got myself good that day. 😂
That’s a lot to process and unlearn tbh. I honestly wouldn’t worry about romantic or flirting interactions at this stage and maybe just practice lower stakes social interaction, yes like small talk. Like anything, conversation takes practice and you get better at it the more you do it. But the reality is, you can’t go into a situation expecting perfection. You will say something awkward or embarrassing at some point because that’s just human nature. We all have. Coping with that sort of thing is a necessary experience and skill. Maybe you could try going to an event geared for socializing and just challenge yourself to have two conversations, with no goal in mind. I think I would get used to casual interactions before attempting to figure out romantic ones.
I have a picky kid so dinners have gotten pretty basic over here. I used to make a crazy ‘world’s best lasagna’ recipe that required some time. Like all sorts of cheeses, that thing was gooooood.
Something I’ve never made but would love to try is like a Beef Wellington or something.

I agree as I am one such case. I created an account like a year and a half ago and got so overwhelmed with it I just ignored it. Even the explainer I found was just too much. Finally a couple weeks ago I remembered it given all the Reddit is compromised stuff. I found my login info. I also happened to have had a gummy so I was in the right high mindset to just go down a rabbithole and finally figured it out. I still don’t really understand how Lemmy interacts with like Mastodon or Pixelfed etc.
Ok here’s another question. How does this exist financially, who pays for servers and whatnot? Believe you me I am so glad not to be assaulted by ads and whatnot but isn’t this expensive?

I feel like a boomer (I am not one) trying to understand the Fediverse even though I can understand how email works, somehow I can’t apply that to how it works here. Another happy Bosch customer here. Had a Whirlpool that leaked and caused water damage on the floors. Turns out Whirlpool happens to be the most basic level of dishwasher, KitchenAid is their nicer line. Anyway, got a mid-level Bosch and this thing cleans (and dries) waaaaay better than our old one could ever dream of.
