Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•"I Let My Little Kids Run Wild in Public. Join Me!" Opinions
3·9 months agoYes, I did stuff like this when I was a kid, everybody does, but no, I wasn’t actively encouraged to do so, au contraire, my parents always taught me how to behave in public and I’m grateful for it. Kids will become adults one day, if they are never taught how to behave they’ll probably end up being entitled pricks that think they can do whatever they want whenever they want.

711·9 months agoThe author admits to have let their kids, who are 2yo and 4yo roam free in restaurants to the point they have ended up in the kitchen, that right there tells you how responsible of a parent she is and how good of an approach hers is.
Not beating the crap outta your children is at the very least a good start.
Pokémon, just a bunch of people complaining about everything.

Gaming@lemmy.ml•What video game franchises do you not need to start from the very beginning to enjoy? What would you recommend as the entry point into your favorite series?
1·10 months agoI have to start with the first entry so I can see how the franchise evolved over time, for example, I recently started playing the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games, I have played the first three games from each franchise and that has helped me to understand the good, the bad, and the ugly from each entry.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s an outdated piece of tech you still use and love?
8·10 months agoWould love to use a MP3 player with wired earphones but the kinda decent ones are like $200 — which may not be much for some but it is for me and my third-world salary.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you need complete silence to read books?
9·10 months agoI need complete silence for stuff that require precision and concentration, working and reading are the main ones. I could read manga or something in a not so quiet environment but that’s it.
So that’s the trick to defeating American imperialism, pointy sticks.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you enjoy eating that other people think is super weird?
1·10 months agoI honestly don’t know since I’ve never done it myself, would have to ask my mom or something.

I’ve been learning languages for the past 10 years or so, including English, the language I’m writing this message in, which is not my native language.
I certainly don’t know what the “best” way is, but what I do is get a lot of input, review vocabulary with Anki (spaced repetition software), and slowly make my way through the pile of grammar.
