7·5 days agothere is an argument to be made for preventing further money being made by giving it to someone who will otherwise buy it new, but then you also have to consider additionally exposure if you give it to someone who wouldn’t otherwise have bought it…

43·6 days agoyou’re limiting your interpretation of rape to a single definition. there are multiple, and this certainly fits as one
your Sienna isn’t much bigger than my car (also an 08) despite having twice the cargo volume. vans rule. my buddy’s similar year Sienna treated our group well as a hauler to many events, rain snow or shine, with multiple people and gear.
I love driving next to vehicles where my head doesn’t go above their wheel well. fuck, some stock trucks have that height these pasts few years. and it’s not like I drive a Miata… for fuck’s sake even a BRZ is smaller than my car. and a (old) Miata is like half the size of a BRZ
dude I lose my Subaru Outback sometimes
newer ones will park next to me and they dwarf it in size, everything is taller and wider and longer
edit: not the topic, but there was one time I lost it in a small parking lot because a truck had parked next to me, and another Outback in the same colour, year, window tint, and general condition had parked on the other side of that truck — so mine was hidden by the truck. I went to the back and was trying to open it for like twenty seconds before I heard mine unlock ten feet away (the fob receiver sucks and it doesn’t work half the time, which didn’t help the situation). that is the only time in eight years that I have confused another car for mine. one of the actually great perks about driving an older car, nobody else has one just like it.
huh that looks like a fun game

3·11 days agolmao I love when it’s just a dumb little thing like that
you did make me realize that that may not be quite so obvious anymore, though, with how they constantly change menus and setting names around. how many other things that we’ve learned over years & years of using Windows are just different in future versions, or not possible any more. and how many of those things were ever obvious settings in the first place, rather than ‘common knowledge’ learned from years of familiarity

7·11 days agowait, did they do away with the primary monitor designation?
isn’t that like the only thing that makes a “primary monitor” special - the taskbar? why can’t you just set another monitor as primary?

2·11 days agore: keystroke focus - you’re not just getting old, programs are getting shittier about pulling focus when they shouldn’t
I work on several screens on several tasks at once typically as well, and it’s infuriating when one program pulls focus as I’m typing a sentence into something else, and worse when it does so and accepts the input of my rapid keystrokes to do whatever the fuck all those hotkeys are on the thing that pulled focus
some people want it but also can’t handle it because they don’t believe it

2·12 days agoone thing that makes me feel better about tasks like this is that I try to double them up with general cleanup
I made a mess of my garage fiddling with all the lathe stuff, but when I cleaned that up, I also did two other outstanding cleanup tasks in there, so it’s a net positive.
well, except for the wallet
new chuck works great, though. now if only I had a carriage and crosslide setup so I didn’t have to turn parts by hand like on a wood lathe, then I could get more accurate parts…
