There are a lot of farms around here, and thus a lot of farmer’s markets. There’s a lot of craft breweries, and the downtown core has recently been gentrified so there are a ton of small businesses there. A witchy store, a book store, a jewellery store, a collectibles store, a coffee roastery, a barber shop, a piercing/tattoo parlour, and don’t get me started on the restaurants.

There’s been a lot of investment in the area to make it walkable, and I’ve seen a huge uptick in tourists since it looks so appealing now.

Have you thought about leaving? I know it’s easier said than done, but where I’m from in Canada there’s a lot of Cantonese speakers. A lot of them fled HK before and after the handover.

I’m not saying you need to immigrate, but there must be pockets in the States where there are more Cantonese speakers who aren’t your family. Or maybe even like a discord server?

As someone whose family is from HK, I’d urge you to hang on to Cantonese if possible. I feel like it’s slowly dying due to influence from mainland China. I wish I could speak it but I can’t.

Yes, I love typing and do it quickly. I guess I prefer QWERTY but only because that’s the one I learned on and got good at. I hate keys that are too flat, like laptops and some office keyboards trying too hard to look streamlined.

When I’m thinking of how to spell a word, in my mind’s eye I see it being typed out and that’s how I find the correct spelling.

I’m not trying to be argumentative, but that’s not really how proper piercing works. I think what you’re explaining is what a place like Claire’s would do, use a thicker earring in a piercing gun to push the surrounding flesh out of the way in order to make a hole.

A piercing studio uses a hollow needle inserted by hand, so it goes in gently and easily and the flesh in the hole is actually removed since it’s inside the needle now. Then the earring is inserted afterwards. It’s far less traumatizing to the body this way.

As someone who has a lot of piercings, I suggest sticking with 1.2mm and up, for stability. Cheese cutter effect is a real concern, and may or may not be able to be fixed by repiercing.

I would say it’s riskier to stay at less than 1mm as it’s so thin that it’s more likely to just rip out your ear if it gets caught on hair or clothing. There isn’t really a risk in switching between different thicknesses, just be careful when stretching to a bigger size so you don’t harm your piercing.

A kid once asked to pet my dog and I said no. Kid then proceeded to tell me my dog looked evil. I was enraged. She is a dog, she can’t be evil, and she’s absolutely terrified of strangers but especially kids.

Usually when I have to deny people petting this dog, I’ll offer to let them pet the other dog who’s normal, but fuck that kid, you don’t get to pet any dog today.

Absolutely. There’s no better feeling than knowing someone will always be there for you and have your best interests in mind. Cuddles and stupid jokes aren’t bad either, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Even in past relationships that didn’t work out, I wouldn’t say the time/money/energy was wasted either. I don’t regret any of it, even if it was only to find out what didn’t work for me and what I didn’t want in the future.

My one dog is very special. She likes to sleep with her head under the couch. She was not pleased when we got a new couch that her head wouldn’t fit under. She sometimes runs into walls and falls off of sidewalks.

My other dog is entirely disinterested in toys. She does not play with them, ever.

It’s not immediately obvious in the store, though I can’t say I’ve been looking in the past decade or so. I’m from BC and my parents used to buy it while I was growing up.
