Here the blackout only lasted two hours. There were people stuck in elevators and trains, and traffic jams. Buses were overloaded for the remaining day as trains were not running. During the blackout I stored some drinking water and checked that the gas cooker was working in case it would last longer.

This is my second baby, the first one is three years old. So in my experience it’s much more fun once the child can go to the playground, starts to talk and gradually learns to do things independently. Though there are also difficulties, and of course every child is different.

Its not that easy because users can undo their votes, or change an upvote to downvote. Thats why we store every individual vote in the database. Also votes from defederated instances are discarded, which wouldnt work if there is only a total vote count from the community. And in general Activitypub is push-based, not pull-based.
You could write a query to votes for remote posts older than 6 months, or something similar.
By far the most space is taken up by votes. You can disable votes (1.0 will have more options), or delete them directly from the database.
It doesn’t take calls for murder or genocide. In Germany you can have your house raided for posting a meme which calls the minister of economy an idiot. The same minister of economy who doesn’t know what a bankruptcy is, and whose entire working experience is as an author of children’s books.
In another case the office of an opposition newspaper was raided, all their computers and even office chairs were taken away by police. All under the pretense that it was an ordinary association and not protected by freedom of the press. However courts found that this was unjustified, and so police had to carry all the items back inside a few days later.

And I was exaggerating, of course there are good movies thatI havent seen yet, but those are usually from the 90s or earlier, and not so easy to discover. For example I recently watched Lost Horizon and The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), both excellent despite their age.
Ive never met any person named “Lemmy”, nor seen it in any kind of movie. And the first time I heard about Lemmy the musicion was when I searched for Lemmy the software. For me it mostly sounds similar to cute little lemmings.
If you dont want to see those type of posts, then you can follow communities which dont include them. And block any instances/communities you dont like so they disappear from /all. You can also create your own community with your own rules, or your own instance. Neither of these things is difficult, they just need time and determination.
Ive been reading Lord of the Rings for some weeks now, and surprisingly it can be so much better than watching a movie. You actually know what the characters are thinking and feeling, instead of watching them from the outside. And there are so many small, important details which get completely glossed over in movies. It doesnt help that most new movies/series are boring, and Ive seemingly already watched every good movie or series in existence. Reading books is great.
For biggest protocol it’s also important to consider the number of instances. In that regard Activitypub is far ahead of everything else (Bluesky only consists of a single instance).
If you install with ansible it should be included by default. You can check if your nginx config contains the cache lines. There is also a line you can uncomment to see the cache status with each request.
