At the end of the day, the electoral system is a contest of strength between 2 or more cults of personality. This is more prevalent in some countries than other, but the very basic aspect of representative “democracy”, aka elections (selecting a person to rule) basically boils down to giving a few people the power to make decisions for everybody else.
