With newer motherboards, some WiFi/bluetooth chipsets have poor support. I had trouble with the Realtek chipset that came in my brand new motherboard. The solution for me was to buy a pcie WiFi/bluetooth combo card for about $30. Throwing it out there in case you run into the same problem.
I settled on Manjaro over the past year but since arch isn’t in consideration, I’d vote fedora or a derivative like bazzite due to its additions for gaming.
That assumes the person using obsidian is a software dev or a sysadmin. Most users aren’t going to want the extra hassle, or they might be unable to do these things.

I’ve used it for years and it just works well for me. Finally convinced my spouse to also use it a couple of years ago. Switching is not an option since it took years of convincing to make that happen.
