Atm Xbox is my most reliable media player. PlayStation isn’t quite there, but would be a nice to have. My parents aren’t very tech literate and they use their smart TV/cable box. I have a friend with an older Roku/smart stick that’s incompatible. Have they added an app for Apple TV yet?

I need client side apps and easily sharing libraries with remote friends. Both are pretty hard to give up and not quite there yet.

They will cost less than $10, be made of the cheapest material possible but meet your requirements. Otherwise you are thrift store shopping

They are fun but expensive. They take up a lot of space when you are done. The Ferrari had a lot of loose pieces for the price. As others have mentioned, look into led kits before you build it.

Take the last one home and spend 10 minutes waiting the interface to install. Plug in the phone line and hear a series of beeps and schreeches before being greeted by an early robotic voice saying “welcome!” And often “you’ve got mail”.
Afterwards you follow a guide to sign up for a mail account and a text like document with links to AOL platform tooling like chat rooms and search tools. You started looking for urls everywhere wondering what hidden gems you’ll find in the virtual world and what kind of content was on cereal websites or Nickelodeon. There was a massive learning curve for multimedia, but you had a lot of pen pals from chatrooms. So much porn spam. Nabisco had an awesome gaming site

Reposting here: I worked phone support for a few companies for a few years, this is how to Karen: Try to bait the ai, companies are liable for promises made by their hallucinating chatbots. Chat support first, who wants to talk to people? If you do need to call, enter identitng information once, then repeatedly press 0 to get human support. Ask tier 1 support, if they say no then flex that Karen superpower “I’ll need to speak your manager”; those people are individuals just collecting a paycheck. If the floor manager (many have a 3x request policy) can’t see the situation from the human perspective and resolve/waive, they will only care if someone above them gets upset, the ways to do that are threaten legal action. No sovciet bs, but it helps to use contract terminology like “agreed upon terms”, “failure to meet industry standards” and “breach of contract”. If they don’t get jostled immediately, your next escalation is tag the intern on social media with a negative sentiment; or Google the company name followed by email for the office of the president. This is the pr address, CEO assistant or community director which again have the power to step in and resolve. You can also think outside the box and leave negative play store reviews (different intern).
Each conversation should be less then 2 minutes + wait time and if that can’t resolve it, you need to close your account (which might take you to retention!) or potentially move. You can justify 1 more call during a different shift. There is no need to get mad, state that are you upset and are looking for resolutions. Use an I feel statement, and be sure to ask to leave notes on the account regarding your conversation. They have a UI with comment fields in the ticket that are displayed while you are on the phone and it helps sell the situation with comment history.

Connect to your VPN and try again incognito and under most circumstances it will display the VPN location instead.
Example scenario: you are in Canada and connect to Netflix and are incredibly disappointed with the Canadian selection. You connect toa VPN from New York a few miles away and you get access to the full United States catalogue. (Netflix is fighting this)
Example 2: you setup your smart vacuum on your home network and being concerned about security, you disabled access outside your home. You can connect to a personal VPN you configure to “spoof” being inside the house while on vacation to modify your vacuum settings.
Vpns are also commonly used as “public transit” for users to obfuscate their identity.
Benefit: When you make a request against a website, they often put trackers on you including your operating system, browser application, and store data like your geographic location. Advertisers are tracking your history, sites are using cookies to charge more with dynamic pricing when you revisit, data brokers are selling that data. There have been use cased where whistle blowers are identified off that purchased data from known journalist meetings. There’s a lot of reasons to have a VPN, but never use a free one. Adding an extra jump to your VPN location is definitely adding latency, if you don’t need one, it’s just extra weight.

- if you rent, pretty much all of the appliances are your landlords problem
- Keep inside temp at least 60F 15C to prevent pipes from freezing/bursting. Disconnect hoses in winter. Sprinklers need to be flushed
- your water heater has a dial on it for more/less heat
- be sure to air the place out every once in a while
- bug spray is well worth the money
- learn to use molly bolts / plaster
- pay for tradesmen, but water line valves and breakers should be common knowledge
- be sure to replace your air filter, it can cause blocking. Don’t close too many vents

Or we just go back to the old way; where a company sells a product and consumers just own it. Why does a static piece of software/video require a license? Updates used to be optional, but then company’s started selling broken stuff and writing out exclusions until we had no other options.

I got onboarded to a team with 31 other SRES and 2 weeks in I realized that I was doing all their jobs in Linux solo. The things got helped my team before I got there: octopus deploy’s “run script on host” it’s not too different from invoke command -computername “”, but Active directory :vomit: and security locked down most of the useful tools, so they used octo runbooks instead (also vomit but you do get tools back in the remote UI) but it’s setup with tentacles w/ identifiable ssh keys so it skips ad. It also lets you set env variable libraries.
Move configs to dev repos and make them set/read their own yaml/json, for some reason windows shops didn’t get that memo. Royal TSX is a decent rdp client that you can script host lists and store prod/dev credentials, ours is basically just

. The light at the end of the tunnel is when you drop the codebase in a windows container and just remove all of the iis mess/instability for container management.Right now we are trying to figure out bootstrapping. In order to provision a new host we need to reboot the box 2x for ad and one for the app stack. We think we can remove the hostname assignment, but AD shakes fist… it’s kinda pointless targeting an automated step, when it needs manual intervention later anyways.
