Linux@lemmy.ml•Systemd wants to expand to include a sudo replacementEnglish
0·2 years agoOh, it’s gonna use polkit. Sudo bloat is a grain of sand compared to polkit.
Why people want to replace sudo with polkit? Visudo is no near as obscure as configuring polkit.
I hope distro maintainers don’t follow this.

Technology@lemmy.world•Nightshade, the free tool that ‘poisons’ AI models, is now available for artists to useEnglish
1·2 years agoIt’s not FOSS and I don’t see a way to review if what they claim is actually true.
It may be a way to just help to diferentiate legitimate human made work vs machine-generated ones, thus helping AI training models.
Can’t demostrate that fact neither, because of its license that expressly forbids sofware adaptions to other uses.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•I asked them to delete my data, they said "Install our app"English
01·2 years agoNobody broke the law lol.
I believe they have like a month to comply.
The just asked for a ticket in the app, to make their lifes easier. If OP doesn’t want to, they still have to comply though.
Now I remember why I hate working directly with customers.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•I asked them to delete my data, they said "Install our app"English
0·2 years agoThey were very friendly imo. No need to speak legalese or to be rude.
Just tell them that you can’t or don’t want to install the app.
If they don’t help you, then you proceed to remind them that you are not required to install anything for them to comply with GDPR.
Sorry, folks. Using
cmalw-libis now deprecated.Cool kids are using

Linux@lemmy.ml•My little brother loves the dualboot setup I installed for him. He says "It's like iOS"English
1·2 years agohaha I thought exactly the same thing lol He’s linuxplained why his distro is better. That’s the spirit.

A bit obsolete this thing about “owning” a bike. Bike subscriptions are way more convenient!
Also it’s harder to track you when you are using this old-fashioned “dumb” bike.
