But haven’t we just learned that they don’t touch the bulb but fly with their back to it bc they “think” it’s the sun?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Why is cottage cheese the only cheese defined by some relationship to a building?
8·7 months agoMy dumbass brain just thought that’s not true, there is “Hüttenkäse” in German… Which is cottage cheese. 🤦🏼♂️

Technology@lemmy.world•Google is intentionally throttling YouTube videos, slowing down users with ad blockersEnglish
40·7 months agoSo it’s wait a few seconds and watch a black screen or watch a minute of ads? What a choice…
I steal “me time” from my sleep time, it sucks

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Kid gave a reasonable answer without all the math bullshit
3·7 months agoBut those things stick. I did a geography test 35 years ago and wrote Canada instead of Kanada wich which is the correct spelling in German. In the eyes of my teacher I answered the question wrong and didn’t get the point, but I also got a point deducted because I did a spelling error. I didn’t lose trust in teachers or society in general, but this still nags me. :)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If money was not an issue, is there a movie, series, or a video game you would fund as a passion project with no intention on making a profit on it?
1·11 months agoA great game that uses time traveling as a key gameplay and plot device.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•AITAH My brother is a Musk apologist and I no longer want to come to his wedding
412·1 year agoPeople cut out family members for much less. I feel we are at a crucial turning point, and all we have left is letting the people we have a connection to know, that these stances are radical and not normal and that having them will have consequences. In your case not having a sibling at their wedding.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the legitimate use-case for generative AI?
8·1 year agoI use it to sort days and create tables which is really helpful. And the other thing that really helped me and I would have never tried to figure out on my own:
I work with the open source GIS software qgis. I’m not a cartographer or a programmer but a designer. I had a world map and wanted to create geojson files for each country. So I asked chatgpt if there was a way to automate this within qgis and sure thing it recommend to create a Python script that could run in the software, to do just that and after a few tweaks it did work. that saved me a lot of time and annoyances. Would it be good to know Python? Sure but I know my brain has a really hard time with code and script. It never clicked and likely never will. So I’m very happy with this use case. Creative work could be supported in a drafting phase but I’m not so sure about this.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are you surprised that people pay for, when there are free alternatives in existence?
2·1 year agoI had a job with fixed days of a month shifts. And at least at the time, a lot of calendars couldn’t create repeating events for let’s say every fifth Saturday of a month. they all knew first, second, third or fourth but fifth, no luck. And aCalendar+ knew and knows that.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are you surprised that people pay for, when there are free alternatives in existence?
1·1 year agoI paid for my calendar app, cause it had a feature I needed no standard app had plus it’s pretty good in other regards. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the pasta shape you dislike the most?
2·1 year agoOvercook? Never had that problem so you boil them before hand or do sth. Weird like that?
Thank you.

I’m slightly infuriated that green doesn’t say: yes, you can!
