Any reasonable court would equate requiring a warrant and requiring payment in the context of the 4th amendment (and similar rights/laws in other countries).

You should read some US history if you think that is going to happen.

Unless there is a need for faster communication or because it covers a topic that people have strong emotions about and need to see how others respond so they don’t assume the other person’s feelings about something. There are some cases where humans, being social animals, do need some interaction beyond words to accomplish coordinated tasks.

The vast majority of meetings should be emails though. Just wish people actually read emails…

That reduces entry points but you will never ever perfectly seal every nook and cranny. All it takes is one insect to get in to be able to replicate if tmthe stuff that draws insects in is present.

People regularly live in homes without.insect infestations despite leaving windows wide open without screens. They keep the house tidy so they aren’t feeding anything that gets in, they close the windows when it is dark out to avoid light drawing things in, and they make sure to get rid of waste. If there is nothing for scavaging bugs to eat there won’t be anything for the predators to eat and so on.

Those companies would get in legal trouble in the US if they admitted to doing it intentionally by calling it a bait and switch. They hide behind legal shenanigans like putting ‘limited supplies’ in fine print.

Everybody hates being on the receiving end of bait and switch. Nobody thinks it is clever except the person committing fraud, and they hate it when someone does it to them.

Bait and switch is literally promosing something and fhen replacing it with something else, which is what happened here. It doesn’t imply any cleverness and has extremely negative connotations.

I love the modlog because it frequently shows both users and mods can be lying. A user who claims they were banned for something other than racism who has three racist comments that the mods deleted or admins of a certain instance who claim any criticism of China is bigotry.

In this case I was entertained by the modlog entry. ‘Spreading lies in other communities’ is pretty funny.
